Mindmeld, an app with a shared voice search experience

I'm not sure you could come up with a geekier name for an app than "MindMeld." No, this is not a visual training program for Vulcans. However, it is a way for young hipster couples to make (Skype?) phone calls with eachother and marvel at paired Google searches while talking. Actually, I am excited to try this app and think the endeavor is a noble one. My lack of faith in intelligent and predictive voice analysis, though, is another problem.

The basic idea is that when you talk to someone, this app searches up the web and pops up "relevant" content. The cool aspect is the shared experience which is not unlike a Google Wave widget, except that it has a much better design. Touch as a core interface element is clear.

I can't help but love the principals behind this app. At the very least, it will certainly be a killer way to explain driving directions. In their much hyped PR push with this video, I think there is a clear demand present for predictive or enhanced shared communication technology. Regardless of the fact that video calls are about as elusive as the flying car, there is a lot to be said for using high tech tools to aggregate our potential interests as we try to convey ideas.

My wife and I already have invented a game to follow the lead of misinterpreted voice searches. I can't wait to try it!
